Below is a sizing chart for our gloves - most people find their hands will fit into a wide range of glove sizes- except for individuals with particularly large or small hands, your choice of glove sizes has more to do with your weight, punching power, and intended use (speed work, hard-hitting, etc.) Therefore our sizing chart below focuses on your weight.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Your choice of glove size will be determined by multiple factors, including personal preference and the choices / needs / guidance of your training / sparring partners, your coaches, and event organizers.
All brands are not created equal. TWINS boxing gloves have high safety value compared to many other brands - therefore saying for example, “everyone in this class 160 lbs should wear 16 oz gloves” may not guarantee equal protection to all unless everyone is wearing the same brand.
For competition, the organizer will probably tell you what type / size of boxing gloves are to be worn by both competitors.
For training and sparring purposes, you may wish to own two glove sizes - a lighter, faster pair, and a heavier, more padded pair.
A difference of four ounces is common in such cases. Additionally, if you are considered a particularly heavy hitter (if people feel you punch harder than others in your weight range), your training partners may appreciate if you add an extra two ounces - four ounces of protection beyond what is detailed below.
Sizes are given in both pounds and kilograms. These size recommendations are for training and sparring purposes for beginning and intermediate practitioners, not for advanced practitioners (who may wish to use gloves which are lighter or heavier than these recommendations) or for competitors in organized full-contact events / tournaments / fight promotions, where lighter weight gloves are often used, and where the promoter/organizer will tell you and your opponent(s) what weight to wear for your weight class.
